Saint-Charles Sports Day 2026: Team Spirit, Sporting Excellence and House Pride

Students at Collège et Lycée Saint-Charles, a leading Swiss international school in Porrentruy, came together on 28 September 2026 for an exciting Sports Day filled with athletic competition, teamwork and school spirit. Held at the Terrain des Sports in Alle, the event brought students together for a memorable day of athletics, volleyball, football and ultimate frisbee, with everyone competing for the coveted Sports Day Cup and valuable points for their school Houses.

A Celebration of Sport at Our Swiss International School

Sports Day is an important occasion in the Saint-Charles school calendar, bringing together students from different year groups, nationalities and educational programmes. Throughout the day, students demonstrated determination, enthusiasm and impressive sporting spirit as they represented their Houses in a series of individual and team competitions. The four Saint-Charles Houses — Allegra, Elio, Les Vouivres and Die Bärli — competed enthusiastically, with every performance contributing towards the overall House competition. Whether sprinting towards the finish line, competing on the volleyball court or working together in football and ultimate frisbee, students had opportunities to showcase their abilities and contribute to their team's success.

Athletics, Volleyball, Football and Ultimate Frisbee

The programme offered a diverse range of sporting challenges designed to encourage participation, physical fitness and teamwork. Athletics events tested students' speed, endurance and determination, while volleyball demanded coordination, communication and tactical awareness. Football provided opportunities for students to demonstrate their technical skills and teamwork, while ultimate frisbee introduced a fast-moving, exciting challenge requiring agility, strategic thinking and cooperation. Each competition contributed points towards the House standings, ensuring that every effort mattered. Students were encouraged to support their teammates, celebrate achievements and demonstrate respect towards their opponents. The combination of individual and team sports reflected Saint-Charles' commitment to providing a balanced education in which every student can discover and develop their strengths.

Building Community Through Sport

As a bilingual international school in Switzerland, Saint-Charles places considerable importance on developing a strong sense of belonging among its students. Sports Day provides an excellent opportunity for young people from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds to work together towards shared goals. Beyond the excitement of competition, the event reinforced the school's core values of Kindness, Respect and Responsibility. Students learned that sporting success is not simply about winning. Perseverance, encouragement, fair play and supporting others are equally important qualities. These experiences contribute to the wider personal development that is central to the Saint-Charles educational philosophy.

More Than a Sports Day

At Saint-Charles, sport plays an important role in promoting wellbeing, confidence, resilience and leadership. Events such as Sports Day demonstrate how an international education in Switzerland extends beyond the classroom, offering meaningful opportunities for students to develop essential life skills. The competition for the Sports Day Cup provided excitement and motivation throughout the event, while the House points contributed to the ongoing spirit of friendly rivalry across the school. Congratulations to all students who participated and represented their Houses with enthusiasm, determination and sportsmanship. Sports Day 2026 was a wonderful celebration of the energy, diversity and community spirit that make Collège et Lycée Saint-Charles such a distinctive Swiss international school.
