WELLBEING AND PASTORAL CARE
At Saint-Charles, student wellbeing is central to our mission. We foster an environment where every child feels safe, supported, and empowered to grow, regardless of their programme or age.
Through our pastoral care services, we nurture mental, physical, social, and academic wellbeing, helping students build the confidence and resilience to thrive both in school and beyond.
This care is coordinated by a dedicated Wellbeing Team, led by Esmond Tweedie, Executive Director and Designated Safeguarding Lead. José Miquelino, Head of Boarding, and his team provide round-the-clock support for boarders, while Antonella Galioto takes special responsibility for day students. Paulina Tkaczyk offers a confidential listening ear, and a qualified external nurse is also available to support the health needs of day students.
STUDY SUPPORT AND MENTORING | At Saint-Charles, every boarding student – whether five-day or seven-day – is supported by a dedicated team available around the clock. Beyond supervising meals and coordinating with teachers, the team offers guidance with personal matters, organisation, and daily routines. |
Boarding students take part in co-curricular activities and compulsory study hours after school. They are encouraged to organise their academic work alongside their chosen activities, with study groups and teachers available for additional support.
Progress is monitored weekly by both the boarding team and teachers. If a student is not meeting the agreed standard, they are guided to participate more actively in study hours to help them get back on track.

"THEIR GOAL IS NOT ONLY TO PROVIDE CARE, BUT ALSO TO NURTURE CONFIDENCE AND INDEPENDENCE, HELPING STUDENTS TO FLOURISH AND FEEL AT HOME AS THEY GROW."

Beyond the school grounds, students can take part in equestrian training at two world-class partner riding centres, join local football or ice hockey clubs – with opportunities to play at competitive levels through HC Ajoie – or pursue ice skating and climbing nearby.

Cultural enrichment is equally close at hand, with access to the Children’s Music Conservatory just minutes from the school, as well as opportunities for dance and performance. Together, these facilities provide a vibrant balance of activity, creativity, and community life.
STUDENT RIGHTS
At Saint-Charles, we believe every student deserves to feel safe, cared for, and respected.
Each child is valued equally and fairly, with their privacy protected and their voice heard. Most importantly, we ensure that every student can learn and grow in an environment that upholds the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
In return for these rights, students are expected to follow the rules designed for their safety and to show respect for everyone in the Saint-Charles community.
"WE ARE DEDICATED TO CREATING A CARING AND TRUSTING ENVIRONMENT WHERE STUDENTS FEEL COMFORTABLE SHARING THEIR CONCERNS."
Whether a worry arises at school, at home, or about someone else, every pupil knows they can turn with confidence to a member of staff.
Families can find more information about our expectations and rules in the Boarders’ Handbook.
