FAQs
Does my child need a student visa or permit?
The entry requirements for Switzerland depend on your child’s nationality. Students from many countries are able to travel freely, in which case the Saint-Charles Travel Office will arrange their residency permit upon arrival. For those who require a visa, an application for a multi-entry visa must be submitted to the Swiss Embassy or Consulate in the student’s home country. Saint-Charles supports families every step of the way, providing necessary documentation, as well as guidance and assistance with the submission process. We are proud to maintain a 100% success rate for student visa approvals to date. Please allow up to 12 weeks for visa processing, as studies in Switzerland can only begin once the visa has been approved. To avoid delays, we strongly recommend starting this process as early as possible. Further details can be found on the Swiss Federal Office for Migration website: https://www.eda.admin.ch/de/ |

We live abroad, are the campus visits compulsory?
While visiting our campus in person can be an excellent way to discover whether Saint-Charles is the right fit for your child, it is not required. For families unable to travel, we are pleased to offer customised virtual tours.
What if my child’s language skills are not up to par, can they still be accepted?
In most cases your child is still able to be accepted to Saint-Charles International School. Our language requirements vary by programme. For example, the Swiss Maturité requires both French and English, while the IB and Saint-Charles High School Diploma are taught in English. If your child needs additional support we are able to provide EAL (English as an Extra Language) and FLE (Francais Langue étrangère) classes. As a result, students typically make rapid progress and are soon able to follow the natural flow of lessons.
We live in Switzerland but too far away for our child to travel to and from school each day. Is there a 5-day boarding option?
